Publishing: KPC is Going to Pittsburgh!
A few weeks ago, a piece of creative nonfiction I wrote and submitted to the young adult cancer magazine Elephants & Tea was selected to be a part of their upcoming June issue - whose theme is centred around "everything happens for a reason."
Today, I received another exciting email from Elephants & Tea letting me know I was selected with three other authors to attend the issue launch party in June - and that they want me to read my piece aloud at the event! They also very generously awarded me a scholarship to help cover travel expenses.
This is very exciting and a tremendous honour and privilege. After a quick discussion with my husband, Paul, I said a big, huge YES!
This is a fantastic opportunity and a giant leap forward in my professional writing career. So, if you have no plans on June 7th, 2025, maybe you could meet me in Pittsburgh to hear me and some fantastic writers share their even more amazing stories!
I want to thank Elephants and Tea Magazine for selecting me to participate in their June issue and launch party. I'd also like to thank Jennifer Quist for being my extraordinary creative writing professor when this story was born. And, of course, a big thank you to fellow cancer fighter Cody Morrison for telling me about Elephants & Tea and encouraging me to submit!
The future is bright, friends! I can't wait to see what other exciting things this second chance at life has in store for me.
